The
complete resource to help parents and professionals include ALL kids in summer camp
To Parents/Guardians of CAMPERS
IN CABIN #:
There is someone in your
child’s camp session who has a severe allergy which can cause an anaphylactic
reaction. An anaphylactic reaction is an allergic reaction so severe that is
can cause death. The child in your child’s group has a severe allergy to: NUTS/PEANUTS. Because
the child can react to trace amounts, inhaling or ingesting even minute amounts
can trigger a life threatening reaction. Emergency treatment involves an
immediate medication injection (the camper with the identified life-threatening
allergy will be wearing their Epi-pen in their fanny pack) and an immediate
trip to the hospital.
The child with this allergy is
showing admirable restraint and maturity in dealing with his/her problem by
refusing offered and tempting foods during snack, sharing time, or lunch hour.
All of us need to do what we can to provide this child with a safe camping
environment.
We respectfully ask that you
not send food products to camp that contain NUTS/PEANUTS, remembering to check ingredients carefully. Your support
in this important matter is, of course, deeply appreciated.
Sincerely,
Sari Grossinger
