Allergy Letter to Parents – Fanny Packs

(Date)

Dear Robin Hood Family,

Today you are receiving your Robin Hood Fanny Pack for your camper(s) who have been indicated to us as having a life-threatening allergy and/or require his/her inhalers with them at all times.

When designing these Fanny Packs we tried to make them look as commonplace as possible. In fact, our Senior Staff will also be wearing similar Fanny Packs at all times to keep track of schedules, etc.

Attached to the Fanny Pack is a luggage tag with the most recent camp information about your child. As well, enclosed in the Fanny Pack is a copy of the Anaphylactic Poster which outlines the camp protocol on anaphylaxis awareness and treatment. This should stay in the Fanny Pack at all times. This poster must be completed by you prior to camp starting and left within the Fanny Pack. We have indicated that a recent photo is on file – we hope that you have already sent in a completed Robin Hood Anaphylaxis Alert Poster which should be on file – if you have not done so please do so immediately.

Please ensure that 1 Epi-Pen® is enclosed in the Fanny Pack and another is left in our Health Centre prior to camp starting. Some families will want to place a second Epi-Pen® in the Fanny Pack or use a Protect-a-Tube for the Epi-Pen®. During swim or high contact activities (such as sports) the Fanny Packs may be placed with the staff supervising easy access if the need should arise.

A letter to all of the campers on your child(ren)’s bus will be handed out tonight to indicate to all families that we strongly recommend families not sending nut/peanut products to camp and alerting them to the fact that there will be campers on the bus with life- threatening allergies to certain food products.

As well, a letter will be sent to all of the campers in your child’s group to alert them of the high risks of sending certain food products to camp.

If you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to contact us at the Robin Hood office.

Yours truly,

Pearl & Bev (& Sari too)

Health Centre & Camper Relations Staff
