The
complete resource to help parents and professionals include ALL kids in summer camp
1. Offer help when it looks as though it might be needed but do not insist on it if the person refuses it.
2. Don't hover.
3. When or if someone falls - take it easy. They are kids and kids fall! Wait for them to give you a cue. If he/she can get up by himself/herself, they may prefer doing that. If he/she requires assistance have him/her tell you the best way to help.
4. Relax - be yourself!
5. Let common sense and consideration be your guide.
6. When in doubt ask "How can I help?"
7. Remember you are dealing with a WHOLE person. This person is not a C.P. kid, a Polio, an autistic kid, etc... This is a person first and if the need arises, this is a person WITH a disability (e.g. a child who has cerebral palsy).
